Black Farm Street transforms food deserts with fresh local produce, education, and community-powered solutions.
Food for Healing is a cohort-based wellness program that supports participants through nutritious prepared meals, fresh produce access, cooking education, and wellness talks designed to encourage healthier lifestyles and long-term wellbeing.
Through this initiative, participants receive consistent food support along with opportunities to learn, engage, and build sustainable habits that support their overall health.
What Participants Receive
Participants selected for the Food for Healing Cohort will receive:
One ready-to-eat or ready-to-heat meal each week
Weekly fresh produce support
Access to cooking classes (one sponsored class per month)
Access to wellness talks led by a registered nurse
Ongoing program support, education, and encouragement
How the Program Works
Participants will receive meals and produce on a weekly basis through:
Pickup: Augusta Locally Grown Farmers Market at the HUB (Thursdays)
Delivery: Available for participants with transportation barriers
All accepted participants are required to attend a mandatory in-person orientation prior to the start of the program. Orientation will take place at the HUB on a market day before the official program start.

This program is intended for individuals and families who:
Would benefit from additional support accessing healthy food
Are interested in learning how to prepare and cook healthier meals
Are open to participating in wellness education and lifestyle improvement
Can commit to the program expectations and schedule

Applications will be reviewed based on need, program fit, and available capacity. Submission of an application does not guarantee acceptance into the program.
A hands-on youth development program that connects children to food, nature, and life skills.
What this includes:
Summer camp (ages 8–12)
Teen leadership program (ages 13–17)
School and group field trips
Agriculture, cooking, and wellness education
Leadership and mentorship development

Workshops, events, and community activations that bring people together around food, agriculture, and wellness.
What this includes:
Community planting days
Volunteer days
Educational workshops
Special events (Earth Day launch, etc.)

Hands-on agricultural education that teaches individuals and families how to grow their own food.
What this includes:
The Concrete Farm (primary teaching site)
Allen Homes Community Garden
Weekly farm workdays
Beginner farmer support and training
Seasonal growing education

Your donation not only supports the organization's mission but also impacts youth education, community gardens, fresh food access, and hands-on agricultural programming.
