Black Farm Street transforms food deserts with fresh local produce, education, and community-powered solutions.

Food for Healing is a cohort-based wellness program that supports participants through nutritious prepared meals, fresh produce access, cooking education, and wellness talks designed to encourage healthier lifestyles and long-term wellbeing.

This program is currently serving Richmond & Burke County Residents only

Through this initiative, participants receive consistent food support along with opportunities to learn, engage, and build sustainable habits that support their overall health.

What Participants Receive

Participants selected for the Food for Healing Cohort will receive:

  • One ready-to-eat or ready-to-heat meal each week

  • Weekly fresh produce support

  • Access to cooking classes (one sponsored class per month)

  • Access to wellness talks led by a registered nurse

  • Ongoing program support, education, and encouragement

How the Program Works

  • Pickup: Augusta Locally Grown Farmers Market at the HUB (Thursdays)

  • Delivery: Available for participants with transportation barriers

  • All accepted participants are required to attend a mandatory in-person orientation prior to the start of the program. Orientation will take place at The HUB, 631 Chaffee Ave, Augusta, GA, on April 30, 2026, at 5:00 pm.

Who Should Apply

This program is intended for individuals and families who:

  • Would benefit from additional support accessing healthy food

  • Are interested in learning how to prepare and cook healthier meals

  • Are open to participating in wellness education and lifestyle improvement

  • Can commit to the program expectations and schedule

Applications will be reviewed based on need, program fit, and available capacity. Submission of an application does not guarantee acceptance into the program.

Donations

Your donation not only supports the organization's mission but also impacts youth education, community gardens, fresh food access, and hands-on agricultural programming.
